My studio 🤍

My biggest achievement of 2023 has been to overhaul my studio space - transforming it from a badly organised communal dumping ground to a beautiful space I find an inspiring, motivating, and productive retreat.

I began work in winter 2022 after the roof leaked 60+ litres of water and was immensely cold and miserable. I had a HUGE clear out, rationalised my equipment and materials, removed a grotty rubber floor, noisy-nasty tube lighting and untidy shelves. I then painted the walls, ceilings and floors, made myself a huge work bench on wheels, cut, sanded and hung shelves and improved the layout of the whole space.

The transformative overhaul has not only been felt on my wellbeing, it has also drastically changed the way I work and my approach to projects and collaboration. I’ve held several workshops in the space, invited clients and curators in for studio visits and have enjoyed seeing the effects a beautiful environment has on my clarity of thought and creative output.

As a space for art making, teaching and creative thinking, I am excited to see where my beautiful studio will take me in the years to come.

“The studio is your sanctum...It is the arena where you will achieve maximum diversity in minimum space”
